Pre-School

This is what is going on all in the pre-school building. This is what the three year olds with Mrs. Ana are doing. Her class is working on color and number reconsign, letter sounds, and class room rules. This is what is going on in the two year olds room with Mrs. Diane… Her class is working on getting to know the class, sharing with friends, and cleaning up toys when you are done playing with them. Also they are learning their colors, shapes, and learning how to ride bikes on the play ground. Mrs. Diane said ”We try to stick to a routine so the kids feel more comfortable at school.” Pre-school really has some exciting things in their building and the three and two year olds are ready for a great and fun filled year.

Yes Or No to Cell Phones at School

YES OR NO to cell phone usage at school?  What do you think about this?  Cell phones have become something that most teens keep with them at all times. Some parents want the phone to be with their kids at all times for safety reasons.  But teachers think it a distraction to the class.  Hear both sides to find out if you like of idea of Phones in school, or no phones in school.

YES

Cell phones are things student should keep with them during their classes. Why, because say if they had a project the students could look up info for the project. If the teacher was doing a review, the student could record on there smart phone of what the teacher is saying. Or if the teacher is writing on the board about a lesson, the student could just take a picture of the writing on the board.

NO

When phones are at school, students are distracted and are not doing thier work. People text each other during class. When rumors start sometimes, they are by text. Then we have the people with the smart phones who are saying rude things on Facebook or Twitter, about other people, that is called Cyberbullying.  All of these things can happen and people say mean things about what happens at school. Phones are NOT a good thing to have at school.

What side are you on?

Interview- Mrs.Scheraldi

This week I interviewed a teacher who has been at Page for 8 years, Mrs.Scheraldi. She has also been running National Elementary Honor Society(NEHS) and National Junior Honor Society(NJHS) for 4 years.I remember when I was in her class I must have been in 1st grade on her 1 or 2 year at page.

I asked Mrs.Scheraldi what was going on in NJHS and she said they were starting a reading program for youngsters. They also plan to go to Ronald McDonald house twice this year. Then they will be starting elections which I’m looking forward to because of the awesome positions.
Lastly, I asked Mrs.Scheraldi what her class was doing. Mrs.Scheraldi said that they were learning about constructing sentences with punctuation in English, they’re learning about addition and number lines in math, and writing their own class story which I wish I did in 1st grade. Finally, after the interview Mrs.Scheraldi said she loves her 14 wonderful students.

Hi I hope you guys have had a great first week of school. Well as you know there are a lot of events coming up. NanoWrimo is coming up in November. I talked to Mrs. Greaver for some information about the NanoWrimo.

“The Purpose of the NanoWrimo is to excite students and show them that writing isn’t an evil thing.” said Mrs. Greaver. I asked her how long we have to write the NanoWrimo and I quote “All the students have from the beginning of November to the end of November to finish it. The NanoWrimo can be about anything you want. It could be about Zombies, Vampires, Harry Potter or just about life it’s self. I’d recommend that what ever it is that you write about it is appropriate and has good language.”

“You are more than welcome to start you NanoWrimo early.” Said Mrs. Greaver.

3rd grade has to write 500 words

4th grade has to write 1,000

5th grade has to write 2,000

Help Girl Scouts Recycle

Did you know that one aluminum can, recycled gives a tv 3 hours of power? Also it takes plastic 700 years to break down in a landfill. Now girl scouts have seen this problem and are trying  to help. But we need as many people as possible to help, because we only have a couple of people and that won’t cut it.  So now you’re thinking, how is there a way for me to help recycle? Now your problem is solved. Thankfully the Girl Scout t Troop 1084 has come to help. If you want to recycle something then come to Page Private School and we have 2 bins upstairs  on the far side of the hall way outside of the library. Also, one down stairs in the main building outside of the office. The big blue bin is for plastic, glass and aluminum bottles. The small green one is for any loose paper or news paper. So if you want to help the earth then start recycling today.
